This weekend is the perfect time to hone your art skills, develop your sword skills or just celebrate in a big way. Hire a babysitter and enjoy a night out on the town or attend an event geared toward the whole family. There are several nightlife events going on around the state as well as some Noon Year’s Eve celebrations for those that want to spend their evenings at home! What are your New Year’s Eve traditions?
Ring in the New Year at Oaklawn’s biggest party of the year. The annual celebration features live music in both Silks Bar & Grill and Pop’s Lounge. Susan Erwin will be opening the party at 6 p.m. all the way to midnight in Pop’s Lounge. Mayday by Midnight will be performing in Silks Bar & Grill from 10:30 p.m. — 2:30 a.m. There will also be a breakfast special in the Bistro from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Toast to the New Year at Oaklawn!

Main Street Batesville will be hosting “Rocky Horror Picture Show New Year’s Eve Celebration” at the Main Street Loft, located on the 3rd Floor at 267 East Main Street. Discover the mesmerizing and addicting world of Acrylic Pour Painting, also known as Fluid Art in this fun and unique Children’s Group Class to learn the basics of the chemistry, techniques, and therapeutic qualities of fluid artwork. Each student will have the opportunity to learn various techniques and paint multiple pieces (at least 2) that they will be able to pick up after one week to take home. Your pieces will be allowed to dry in the studio; they are then are sealed and glossed before pickup — all included in the class. Every class offers multiple paint color choices, and no two classes are alike! The combinations of colors and techniques our students can use are endless.
Open to children ages 6-12, and there must be one adult present per child. The ticket price covers materials for each child and his/her Adult Helper.
