Read More about this safari issue. As an artist sometimes you feel like you are sending your creations out into a void. That the creative path you are following doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Does my music stick in your brain and make you happy? Did my performance on stage make you cry? Were you compelled by my painting and become lost? Our craft can be so personal and feel like we are leaving little pieces of ourselves lying around. The city of Conway recognizes the amazing talent it takes to create these works of art and showcases that talent in a weeklong celebration called ArtsFest.
“ArtsFest is dedicated to making the cultural life of our region more vibrant, accessible and understandable.” – Dr. Gayle Seymour, associate dean of UCA’s College of Fine Arts and Communication and member of the ArtsFest planning committee.
Planned and presented by the Conway Alliance for the Arts (CAFTA), the 10th Annual ArtsFest will run from Thursday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Oct. 1 in locations all over the city of Conway, Arkansas. All events are free and family-friendly, ranging from visual art, dance, music, creative writing, film, theatre and more.
The festival kicks off Friday, Sept. 23 with Light Up the Night on Front Street in front of Kings Live Music (1020 Front Street), and will feature public art, live music, food trucks and opportunities to exercise the artist in all of us.
You can also enjoy the stroll around downtown as artists display their works in the Fourth Friday Art Walk throughout Downtown Conway. Light up the Night will make for a great night out for all.

You can spend the week enjoying everything the official schedule has to offer. But don’t forget to jump in on the fun at Art in the Park, Saturday, Oct. 1 at Simon Park. This event will feature live performances by local music, theater, and dance groups and organizations as well as hands-on art activities and exhibits featuring local artists from Conway Public Schools and elsewhere.
ArtsFest allows you and your family the opportunity to enjoy and experience an enriching week. Who knows you may find your own creative path to follow. Find out more about what’s going on at ArtsFest on the Conway Alliance for the Arts website at www.artsinconway.org.
