First up is the Hot Air Balloon State Championship in Harrison. It isn’t every day that you have the opportunity to ride in a Hot Air Balloon. Next up, Eagle Fest in Ash Flat will feature a festival and several fly-ins. Finally, you have the chance to be crowned as one of the best paper airplane pilots in the state and meet the world record holder at the Little Rock Paper Airplane Championship. Also up this weekend is the biggest county fair in Arkansas, which happens to be one of the top ten in the nation! Up, up, and away!
The 24th Annual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon State Championship is this weekend in the magnificent Ozark Mountains. This unique outdoor event that began in 1995 is held in beautiful downtown Harrison, Arkansas. The Festival will kick off on Friday evening at the Boone County Regional Airport! There will be a FREE concert, balloons tethered to the ground for the exciting Balloon Glow, and vendors. The event will continue on Saturday morning, with more balloon race competitions. The evening events will continue at the Anstaff Soccer Complex, where tethered rides will be offered to the public. In conjunction with the tethered rides, there will be a CASA Kids Fest, with inflatables, pony rides, music, face painting, food and fun for the family. The event will continue through Sunday.

Those who love the outdoors need to check out the 21st Annual SouthArk Outdoor Expo, hosted by the South Arkansas Community College Foundation. There will be contests such as the Hero 5K run/walk, rib cook-off, outdoor photo contest, car show contest and dog show contest with cash prizes for all contests. There will be live bands will be performing throughout the day. It will be a full day of hands-on activities and exhibits for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and children will take place.

If you want to have some sputtering, rickety fun, then head the Agriculture Plantation Museum. This event is a treat for all ages and draws a large community of farmers, visitors and tractor owners displaying their tractors and hit-and-miss engines. Take your family and enjoy a day at the museum celebrating the history of agriculture.

Test your paper airplane skills and meet World Record Holder John Collins at the Little Rock Paper Airplane Championship this Saturday at the Clinton School of Public Service. The Fourth Annual event includes competitions for distance and hang time, age divisions for children and adults and trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in all divisions. The event is a fundraiser for the Lymphomaniac Society, a Little Rock-based nonprofit organization that provides weekend trips to cancer survivors. You can still register to compete!

The White County Fair has been an annual event for the last 80+ years. It is currently the largest county fair in Arkansas and in the top 10 in the U.S. Since 1935, the White County Fair has been a gathering place for families. The Fair has rides, food and fun activities for all ages. So make plans to head to Searcy this week and enjoy the exhibits, funnel cakes, animals, rides, entertainment, and more!
