May in Arkansas is Full of Festivals and Fun

May is the month for small-town festivals in Arkansas. If you plan your weekend road trips just right, you could hit the Armadillo Festival in Hamburg and the Crawdad Festival in Harrison on different weekends. But you will have to choose between checking those out or the Steel Horse Rally in Fort Smith and the Cowboy Festival in Mountain View. There are choices this month! But you should make time to catch a baseball game every month during the season and enjoy the themed nights of the Arkansas minor league teams. Enjoy your May in Arkansas!

51st Annual World-Famous Armadillo Festival (Hamburg)

Hamburg is home to the Armadillo festival that prides itself in great entertainment and live music to all who attend. Thousands of people go each year to enjoy this small-town festival.

2022 Steel Horse Rally

The Steel Horse Rally roars into downtown Fort Smith this month to honoring all who serve. The rally is dedicated to veterans, military, law enforcement and first responders. The charity motorcycle event also helps local charities and the community. All are welcome to go and experience one of the fastest-growing motorcycle rallies in the country and enjoy scenic rides, LIVE music and entertainment. There will be pro & amateur motorcycle racing for entertainment, vendors and more.

Bentonville First Friday

First Friday is a perfect way to enjoy Bentonville. The theme for this month’s First Friday is Pet-A-Palooza.  There will be vendors, food trucks, music and activities. You will not want to miss out.

Mayhaw Festival (El Dorado)

The Mayhaw Festival is an annual street festival with craft and food vendors, vintage market, antique car and motorcycle show, Newton House Museum tours and kid’s activities. It is a great day of family fun held on the grounds of the Newton House Museum. This event is free and open to the public.

New World Symphony (Little Rock)

Heading out to the symphony is an excellent way to spend the evening with friends or family. There are still tickets available to see conductor Matthew Kraemer as maestro and Tessa Lark on the violin.

Crawdad Days (Harrison)

Crawdad Days will be hosted in Harrison and has been a staple event in the area for over 30 years. It is a hometown festival with events for all ages to enjoy (especially if you like crawdads).

Cowboy Music & Arts Festival

This spring, retreat to the Ozarks for the Cowboy Music & Arts Festival at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. It is a celebration of the songs and stories of the American Cowboy during this two-day, family-friendly event featuring GRAMMY award-winning music, the region’s finest artisans, gardens, and Southern-style buffets at The Skillet Restaurant. The Cowboy Festival includes three memorable shows on Friday and Saturday.

Minor League Baseball in Arkansas

Arkansas is fortunate to be home to two minor league baseball clubs. The Arkansas Travelers are a Minor League Baseball team based in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The Travelers are affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are based out of Springdale and are an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Attending the games of these ball clubs is always fun because they have activities for the crowds, themed nights and the best ballpark food. Take time this month to head to a game with friends or family.

Make plans to attend the Pulaski County fair this month. A night out with carnival rides, games, vendors, and fair foods would make for a great night out. There will also be a petting zoo and live entertainment so there will be fun for all ages.
