At the Corner’s Brunch Hits the Spot

Over the past few years, there’s been an explosion in the number of Little Rock restaurants offering brunch service. And while many places are doing some fantastic things, you’d be hard-pressed to beat what’s going on over at At the Corner in the heart of downtown Little Rock.

Just make sure to get there early, at least on the weekend.

On most Sundays, the line is about 20-people deep 15 minutes before the 10 a.m. opening. No worries, however, as restaurant staff does an excellent job of keeping wait times to a minimum. Service is fast and attentive, yet friendly, and the fast-casual, order-at-the-counter set-up works well for all involved.

The brunch menu is filled with popular favorites like The Sampler (fresh farm eggs, cheese grits, hash browns with homemade seasoning, Arkansas bacon, fresh fruit, and a biscuit served with our house honey butter and homemade jam), The Cowboy Breakfast (old school biscuits with local sausage gravy topped with local fried chicken and a fresh farm egg), and Brunch Poutine (home fries, cheese curds, brown gravy, and a fried egg.

On a recent visit, I particularly enjoyed one of At the Corner’s weekend specials: a biscuit with smoked salmon, fried egg, guacamole, and pickled onion. It was a creative combination of ingredients, a characteristic folks at the restaurant take great pride in developing. On weekends, there’s even a Chef’s Creative Corner feature on the menu.

“The inspiration behind the Chef’s Creative Corner is just that, inspiration. Creating a new menu every weekend is challenging, but it’s also a beautiful opportunity for our team to always seek inspiration. Restaurants are a tough industry. Never losing sight of why you are part of it is important, and the Chefs Creative Corner is a constant reminder and opportunity of how important food and its connection to culture is. Food is what created civilizations and what connected civilizations to others. And as a creative space for our team to design a new menu every weekend based on inspiration, our local farmers, and community events, The Chef’s Creative Corner constantly connects us to our brunch-ers, our community and people visiting Little Rock,” says co-owner Helen Grace King.

And it’s always fun to keep an eye on At the Corner’s social media for announcements on upcoming brunch themes.

“My personal favorite time of the year is our Christmas is Coming Brunch Series. Every weekend in the month of December we create a Christmas menu highlighting traditional Christmas dishes from other cities and countries around the world,” says King.

Looks like we all have some tasty holiday homework to take care of.

Did You Know?

Brunch is offered every day (minus Monday, the restaurant is closed). There is a weekday brunch menu offered Tuesday-Friday 7 a.m.-2 p.m. This menu has staples, along with items like buttermilk pancakes and seasonal burgers, that aren’t found on the weekend menu. Weekend brunch event takes place Saturday 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
