Grady’s Pizza & Subs Always Hits the Spot

I have eaten many times at Grady’s Pizza & Subs over the past nine years. And you know what? The food always hits the spot. Always. Since 1981, the restaurant, with two locations in Little Rock, has built a base of loyal customers with consistently good food and quality service, all at a very reasonable cost.

The menu is as straightforward as can be, filled with salads, sandwiches, pizza, burgers and wings. And while I have still yet to try the latter two, I can expound on the other three, and that includes the pride and joy of the menu, the Grady’s Grinder. Make sure to order the sandwich with house-made onion bread.  It comes with ham, turkey breast, salami and roast beef, making this adequately sized sandwich a meat-lovers paradise. You have nine other sandwich choices, including a club, Reuben, meatball, turkey breast, Vegetarian Sampler, muffuletta, grilled chicken breast, corned beef and chicken salad.

Grady’s is also known for its salads. Like the sandwiches, expect to have plenty of options, although my usual order is the Club Salad loaded with spinach and greens mix, turkey, ham, fresh onions and mushrooms, and a heavy hand of fresh bacon bits. At $8.75, it is enough for two meals. As much as I enjoy this dish, please do not view this as a healthy “salad” option. Simply put, it is salad only by name, not calories, especially if you opt for the ranch dressing, which is probably a smart choice (at least for your taste buds).

The pizza, one of the more underrated options in town, is highlighted by a thinner crust that is still soft to the bite. Get the 16-inch Grady’s Supreme. It comes loaded, and I mean loaded, with beef, sausage, pepperoni, ham, black olives, red onions, fresh mushrooms and green bell peppers. Grady’s is not stingy with pizza toppings, or anything, for that matter, but I also appreciate how ingredients are not just haphazardly thrown on the pie. Making good pizza is an art, and it is quite evident that the folks at Grady’s take pride in constructing it. And this speaks to my original point: consistency. Grady’s has this trait down pat and Little Rock loves them for it.

Now, if I could just venture out a bit and try the burger and wings. From what I hear, those are stellar as well. Looks like I have some homework to do.
