Read More about this safari issue.Much like Me & McGee Market and The Bramble Market, The Curve Market is a small, specialty market selling plants, produce and a variety of goods, many of which are locally produced. Also, like the other two spots, The Curve Market is just a short, 20-minute drive from the heart of Little Rock in Scott, making it an easy destination for many folks. And as much as these three places have in common, each one possesses an unmistakable uniqueness and personality.
The Curve Market opened in March 2015 and offers customers a relaxed setting to purchase local fruits and vegetables, as well as products like hummus, honey, jams, jellies, artisan breads, sunflower oil, salsa, butter, cheese, eggs, and kombucha.
For owner and operator Julie Chapman, there was plenty of inspiration behind opening the market.
“We have always been involved in agriculture and farmer’s markets. I wanted a fixed location to provide local produce and locally made goods.”
It’s a pleasant, inviting setting, which, as far as I could tell, is a true reflection of Chapman’s demeanor. During my visit, we chatted for a bit, something I gathered Julie does with most customers browsing around in search of a candle, some popcorn, or jar of jam. Truth be told, Scott is a small town and I’m guessing most folks who pay a visit to the market are familiar faces. If not, The Curve Market struck me as a place where strangers become friends within minutes.
After our chat, I continued to slowly work my way through aisles of beautiful plants and vibrant produce. Near the very back, I came upon an outdoor, fenced-in sitting area with even more plant life. Nearby was a table with seating for two, a perfectly tranquil spot to literally smell the roses.
It was mid-afternoon on a weekday, so there wasn’t exactly a lot of hustle and bustle. Things were fairly quiet, which isn’t always the case. Like most markets, The Curve Market thrives on Saturdays.
“Yes, Saturdays are one of our busiest days. People love to bring their families and browse through our store. We love to say that Saturdays are for produce,” says Chapman.
For Chapman, the produce, much of it grown by her own family at a nearby farm, represents one of the most rewarding parts about owning The Curve Market.
“Being able to share our produce with Central Arkansas, along with helping other small businesses share their awesome products, is very rewarding. We love being able to build relationships with our customers.”
From the looks of things, I’d say its mission accomplished.
