Camping in Luxurious Bell Tents Across Arkansas

A

As much as I love camping, I realize that roughing it in the woods with spiders and snakes is not for everyone. Still, there is something magical about sleeping outdoors with just a thin piece of fabric separating you from all of the wild things. And it’s something I encourage everyone to try at least once.

Arkansas is full of beautiful campgrounds, state parks and RV parks where you can bring your tent or camper. These options are great, but there is still an element of DIY. In most cases, it’s up to you to pack and transport gear and handle setup and takedown.

Fortunately, Katy Faulk, a seasoned camper herself, realized that the work associated with camping was the factor holding many people back from making wonderful outdoor memories with their families. Faulk decided to launch a business that would handle most of the work for you. So, if you are looking for a luxurious outdoor experience without having to lift a finger, you need to check out the growing trend of bell tents.

In the summer of 2020, at the height of lockdowns and COVID panic, Katy Faulk was going stir crazy and needed to get away for a weekend. Fondly remembering family camping trips from her childhood, Faulk knew there was nothing glamourous about camping. But she craved the nostalgia and the opportunity to make memories with her family and suggested a camping trip. Faulk’s city-raised husband balked at the idea, but said he’d consider it if air conditioning were involved. Like any reasonable woman, Faulk smiled and said, “challenge accepted.” She promptly set out to make her dreams happen.

Recalling seeing photos from a friend who had stayed in a big bell-shaped tent, Faulk knew that was just what her family needed and connected with White Tail Tents, a company doing bell tent rentals in northwest Arkansas. Air conditioning was included, so she scheduled a weekend and brought her husband and children to Northwest Arkansas for a weekend of glamping.

Needing to bring only their clothes and food, Faulk and her family arrived at the riverside site where the large tent was already set up. Complete with beds, decorative pillows, snacks, and of course, air conditioning, the boho-style tent was perfect for their growing family and all the stuff that comes with having young children. There was room to stand and play, and cozy beds that allowed them to  sleep comfortably. The trip was a major success, but when Faulk returned home, she couldn’t get the experience out of her mind.

With her political fundraising background, Faulk knows a thing or two about creative ideas.  She realized glamour camping and bell tents were precisely what Little Rock families didn’t know they needed. In a matter of weeks, Faulk had consulted with the company they had stayed with in Northwest Arkansas and was well on her way towards launching The Happy Glamper in Central Arkansas.

Today you can embark on the glamour camping trip of your dreams with a few clicks or a phone call. And the fun doesn’t stop there. In addition to camping packages available at Lake Nixon, Maumelle Park or the campground of your choice, The Happy Glamper offers backyard packages. You can camp, plan a sleepover, bridal or baby shower or host the backyard party of a lifetime. If you can dream it, Faulk and The Happy Glamper crew can make it happen.

The next time you want to go camping but don’t want to do all the work, leave the heavy lifting to the professionals and enjoy a glamping experience you won’t soon forget.

Not in Central Arkansas? No problem. There are several companies across the state that offer similar bell tent experiences. And many will travel outside of their service area for a small travel fee.
