Happy Thanksgiving! Let’s usher in the holiday season with these great events from around the state. Build up your turkey day appetite with a turkey trot 5k or brush up on your primitive camping skills. Enjoy Christmas lights on the lake, duck calling contests, and caroling in the caverns.

Turkey Trot 5K – Conway

Start Thanksgiving Day off the right way with United Way of Central Arkansas Turkey Trot! Fun for the whole family before, during and after the 5K. Adults beverages available after the race and breakfast is available for all racers. Elite runners, joggers and walkers enjoy the course through Centennial Valley Country Club neighborhood and golf course, which is flat, fast and flows through a neighborhood.

Experience a primitive camp, as well as some of the survival skills used by Arkansas pioneers. Watch a variety of demonstrations including muzzleloading rifles, tomahawk throwing, and more! Co-presented by the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association. Contact the park for a schedule.

Join us the day after Thanksgiving as we officially begin the start of Christmas at Harbor. Our fun and festive lighting ceremony includes live music on the stage, free hayrides to view the Christmas lights of Harbor, free cookies, hot cocoa, and cider, Christmas story reading by Mrs. Claus and the arrival of Santa himself via hayride wagon to turn on all the lights of Harbor.

81st Annual World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest – Stuttgart

One of the biggest and best festivals in the Arkansas Delta. Thousands from across the country flock to the event to celebrate the town’s moniker as the “Duck Capital of the World!” The festival includes a duck calling contest, commercial exhibits, arts & crafts fair, handmade duck calls and decoys, carnival and midway, outdoor exhibits, Queen Mallard and Junior Queen Mallard pageants, Sportsman’s Party, a great 10K Duck Race, and World Championship Duck Gumbo Cook-Off.
