Sharon English, a First Security branch manager in Searcy, submitted this Greek pasta salad recipe. She calls for one of my favorite and most-used ingredients of all time, made right here in Arkansas.
Cavender’s Greek Seasoning gathers 13 spices into a robust blend. The product has been made in Ozark hills of Northwest Arkansas for almost 50 years, but the rich history of this label dates back to clear to 1948. In all this time, the company hasn’t changed its recipe; Cavender’s Greek seasoning remains my pantry staple and go-to flavoring for so much of what I cook. Y’all, I buy it by the 5-pound bucket and put it on everything: pork chops, hamburgers, steaks, chicken, zucchini, squash, green beans, pasta, casseroles and so much more.
This seasoning does all the heavy lifting for my food, so there’s no need to reinvent the wheel trying to come up with the right mix of other spices.
While the Cavender’s container label has changed over the years, my shaker of this flawlessly-blended seasoning has no label. I like to keep the shaker positioned in disguise among the salt and pepper in my kitchen cabinet, but let’s be real…I’m fooling no one. Everybody knows what’s inside.
Because of this ingredient, making this pasta salad was a no-brainer for me. Only seven more ingredients are needed to put together this summer salad with this now not-so-secret spice blend.
