Kid’s Favorite Trail Mix

I

It’s back to school time around Arkansas and this Kid’s Favorite Trail Mix recipe is the perfect addition to any lunch box or after-school snack that the kids will love. Plus, it’s a no-cook recipe that makes life even easier.

If you’ve ever wanted your kids to say thank you, this is a recipe that will have them doing just that! It’s all of their favorite snacks combined in one bag. As an adult, I couldn’t keep my hands out of this trail mix. I honestly forgot how much I loved Honey Nut Cheerios. Oh, the nostalgia!

When I got ready to pick a recipe for back to school, I discovered a super-easy way to find the perfect recipe that kids will love and it’s one of my favorite parts of “What’s Cookin’ at First Security Vol. 2.” I am so excited to share this tip with y’all! There are 8 recipe symbols listed in the table of contents. Did you know that you can easily browse the index and look for symbols to find the perfect recipes? Besides being able to find kid-friendly recipes, you can easily find Diabetic, Quick & Easy, Gluten-Free, Slow Cooker, Heart Healthy and a couple more recipe types.

I can’t wait to try all of the symbolled recipes!

Tips

  • I bought family-size bags of M&M’s and Skittles which easily made 2 big batches and still had leftovers of the candy.
  • I filled the snack bags close to full and got 12 bags a batch. You can fill the bags half full for a good size serving and get 24 bags a batch.

Kid’s Favorite Trail Mix

  • 2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
  • 2 cups Honey Nut Chex
  • 2 cups flavor blasted cheddar goldfish
  • 2 cups pretzels

  • 1 cup Skittles

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy. Perfect for placing in separate zip-top bags for snacks and trips!

There are over 800 recipes in “What’s Cookin’ at First Security Vol. 2,” all submitted by employees and customers. Proceeds from the sales go to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance to help feed people across the state. You can purchase the cookbooks for $20 at any First Security Bank location.

Thank you so much to Erin Simpson for submitting such a great Kid’s Favorite Trail Mix recipe to the cookbook.
