Easy Peasy Pleasy Tips

  • I love how easy this cake is to prepare. There are only 10 ingredients, any you probably already have most in your pantry. Keep a box of yellow cake mix on hand and you are all set when the cravings arrive for this delectable recipe.
  • Follow the ingredients and the directions from this recipe. Disregard the directions on the cake mix box.
  • Pour the icing on the cake while it’s still hot but let the cake cool before cutting. This Honey Bun Cake is beyond easy to cut and makes pretty, individual servings.
  • It’s a great make-ahead cake and you can always heat up each serving for a few seconds in the microwave to have a warm piece of yummy goodness.

Honey Bun Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 box Super Moist yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat a 13 x 9-inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat cake mix, oil, water, eggs, and sour cream with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes. Spread half of the batter into pan. In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle evenly over batter in pan. Carefully spread remaining batter over brown sugar mixture. Bake 44-48 minutes until deep golden brown. In a small bowl, stir powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together to make a smooth icing. Pour over cake while it’s still hot. Optional: Add 1/3 cup chopped pecans to brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
