ArkansasGives: Your Charitable Dollars Stretch Farther on April 2

I

It’s no secret that Arkansas shines when it comes to generosity. In fact, our state ranked 7th in the nation for charitable giving in a 2012 study prepared by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.

But we also know that Arkansas faces plenty of challenges. We rank near the very bottom of states in the percent of our residents with bachelor’s degrees. In 2011 we ranked fourth in the nation for overall poverty. In 2010, Arkansas ranked eighth in the nation for adult obesity.

Sometimes these challenges can seem daunting, but when Arkansans pull together, we know that positive change is possible. If you’re looking for a simple way to get started making a difference for a local cause you care about, mark your calendar for April 2.

On April 2, Arkansas Community Foundation is hosting ArkansasGives, a 12-hour online celebration of giving created to challenge all Arkansans to make a donation to the charity of their choice on a single day. When you make a donation through www.ArkanasGives.org on April 2, you can help your favorite organizations earn bonus dollars from the Community Foundation and grand prizes sponsored by First Security Bank.

It’s one day, one easy way to give.

Save the Date - Arkansas Gives

You can help grow the love for Arkansas nonprofits.

Here’s how:

  1. Get Ready to Give! Visit ArkansasGives.org between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on April 2 to make a credit card donation of $25 or greater to one or more of the 350-plus participating charities. When you give, you’ll help your favorite nonprofits win bonus dollars and compete for grand prizes sponsored by First Security Bank.
  2. Get a Reminder: We know, life gets busy. But there’s no excuse to forget to give – text ARGIVES to 24587 to get a reminder to give on April 2.
  3. Support the ArkansasGives Food Truck Fiesta: Stop by the ArkansasGives headquarters at the AT&T Building (1111 W. Capital Ave. in Little Rock) to buy your lunch from one of the food trucks that are supporting ArkansasGives. Four local food vendors will be onsite, and each will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the ArkansasGives participating nonprofit of their choice.
  4. Spread the Word: You can help inspire others to give. Follow ArkansasGives on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and share your own social media posts about why you give and how your favorite charities are building a better Arkansas.
  5. Challenge a Friend to Give: Arkansans are generous people; we simply have to be asked to give. On April 2, ask your friends, family and social media followers to participate in ArkansasGives and help grow the love for their favorite charities!

Let’s put Arkansas’s generosity to work. Together we can create positive change in our state.  Learn more at ArkansasGives.org.
